PAKISTAN ENDOCRINE SOCIETY 3rd PUNJAB CME at PC, Lahore
The report of the joint PES-AACE Pakistan Chapter 3rd Punjab CME of 2015 at Lahore on Friday, October 3rd, 2015. The CME was accredited for 3 PMDC-approved CME contact hours by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, PIMS, Islamabad. The event was attended by 250+ General Physicians.
Prof Ali Jawa opened the ceremony by introducing Pakistan Endocrine Society and AACE Pakistan chapter to the General Physicians. He introduced Dr. Uzma Malik, the moderator for the event.
Dr. Uzma Malik introduced all speakers prior to their respective lectures. Prof Khurshid Khan spoke on the topic of “management of hypothyroidism”. His talk was geared towards newer diagnostic and treatment options.
Dr. Imtiaz Hassan apprised the audience of “Recent updates in management of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus” He touched upon the newer therapies including Degludec, PeglIspro, and SGLT-2 inhibitors.
Prof. A. H. Aamir discussed the “Pakistani Guidelines of Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus”. His talk was well received and appreciated by the audience.
Prof Ali Jawa spoke on “Approach to a patient with abnormal calcium levels. He discussed the initial and comprehensive diagnostic testing protocols in the context of available resources in Pakistan.
The audience was given the opportunity to ask questions after each presentation. Mementos were presented to each speaker as a token of appreciation. Dr. Uzma Malik thanked the sponsors and the audience and the event were adjourned.
