Membership of Pakistan Endocrine Society consists of Executive, International Executive, Scientific, Associate, Honorary Executive, Allied and Community members. Out of these categories, only executive members are eligible to run for office or to vote in the PES elections, however the rest of the members are not eligible for either. The following are the criteria and levels of Pakistan Endocrine Society membership:
a. Executive Members:
- The executive membership of the Society shall be open to Clinical Endocrinologists of either sex who meet the membership criteria as outlined below and agree to the aims and objectives of the society and are willing to abide by the rules, pay yearly membership fee of the revised fees as and when revised by the Board of Management of the
- MBBS doctors of Pakistani descent that reside and practice in Pakistan who have passed FCPS-Endocrinology examination, completed formal endocrine training in UK with CCT or Diplomate American Board of Endocrinology and Diabetes.
- Has two original research papers related to Endocrinology published in HEC recognized journal as first, second or corresponding
- At least 3 years of scientific executive member (mandatory).
- Attended at least two annual conferences meeting as scientific executive
- Three years membership fee dues paid on
- Those doctors who meet the executive membership criteria above will need to apply for the same, duly endorsed by two executive members in good standing with the society. Once the executive membership application is received and approved by the Board of Management, it will be presented in the next Executive Body meeting for approval by executive members with 2/3rd majority vote.
- For those executive members who during their professional life move and practice abroad, their membership status will be converted to International Executive Members. Upon permanent return to Pakistan, they can apply to restoration for executive

b. International Executive Members
Medical Doctors of or not of Pakistani descent who do not reside and practice in Pakistan and have passed FCPS-Endocrinology examination, completed formal endocrine training in UK with CCT or Diplomate American Board of Endocrinology and Diabetes are eligible for this. This membership category also includes Executive Members of the society who have moved out of Pakistan and now practice abroad. These members are not eligible to vote for Board of Management election.
c. Scientific Executive Members
Qualification
- FCPS (ENDO), CCT, Diplomate Endocrine Board (Mandatory).
- Letter of recommendation from two executive members (Mandatory).
Publication
- Has two original research article published in HEC recognized journals in last three years as first, second or corresponding
Experience
- Two years of supervised training in recognized endocrine (Mandatory).
- Attended at least 02 annual conferences meeting as scientific
- Presented in PES CMEs, annual or mid-summer

d. Scientific Membership/Promotion Criteria to Scientific Executive Member
- MBBS Doctors of Pakistani descent who have completed postgraduate training and passed FCPS-Medicine, MRCP Medicine or Diplomate American Board Medicine and are undergoing postgraduate training in Endocrinology (Endocrine Fellow-in-training) in Pakistan or abroad in person may apply for this. Out of two persons who endorse his/her nomination papers, one has to be his/her postgraduate training supervisor who should be an in good standing as PES executive member. Once their training is completed and they have passed the requisite examination CCT or FCPS Endocrinology, they can apply with documentary evidence for converting their status to scientific executive
- Criteria for MSc in Endocrinology as Scientific Member:
- Master in Endocrinology (Recognized by PMC and in person training)
- Attend 03 Annual conference
- Approval from 02executive member of PES
- (All categories are mandatory)
Scoring System for promotion of Master in Endocrinology to Scientific Executive Member:

All categories are mandatory and a candidate who scores 4 marks are eligible to be an executive scientific member.
e. Associate Members/Promotion Criteria to Scientific Member
MBBS Doctors of Pakistani descent residing and practicing in Pakistan and have made significant contribution towards promoting the cause of endocrinology and not covered in above sections fall under this category. This membership category includes General/Family Physicians, M.Sc. or Diploma in Diabetes/Endocrinology (attended in person) etc recognized by PMC (in person training).
Promotion criteria of Associate members to scientific member:
- 02 years of associate member
- Complete training of FCPS (Endocrine)/CCT/Diplomate Endocrine Board
- 01 publication in HEC recognize journals
- 02 years of clinical Endocrine practices
- All category are mandatory
f. Honorary Executive Members:
Honorary executive members of the society will be nominated by board of management in consultation with board of governors. The honorary executive membership will be given to person from medical field or non-medical field, to institutes, to deaneries and corporate organizations. This membership will be a token of appreciation for above mentioned for their contribution towards diabetes and endocrine.
g. Allied Members:
Allied members include nurses, dieticians, diabetes educators, advocacy/support groups & organizations, physical fitness trainers and psychologists.
h. Community Members:
Non-medical persons who are committed and wish to contribute and support the cause of Pakistan Endocrine Society.
